Laser-induced incandescence (LII) has proven to be a powerful tool for nanoparticle concentration and nanoparticle size measurements in combustion, particle synthesis, and in environmental applications. This website exists to connect the community of science that is emerging with an interest in the quantitative aspects of the physics and chemistry of the processes involved in laser-induced incandescence. Many different experimental approaches and data evaluation techniques exist and are employed by the various groups that are currently working on making LII truly quantitative. In order to strengthen the community, a series of joint meetings has been established to discuss the status of the current understanding regarding LII diagnostics. The workshops provide the opportunity to gather the leading researchers in the field for a forum to identify weaknesses and knowledge gaps and to provide perspective to focus future LII research. This website exists to foster further communication between the LII scientists in the intervals between workshops. The outcome of these interactions will be of great assistance in determining the possibilities and limits of LII, will provide the initiative for further research on enhancing the fundamental understanding of LII, and will provide an opportunity for the establishment of international collaborations.
