Abstract

In this work, time-resolved laser-inducedincandescence (TiRe LII) has been employed to measureprimary particle diameters of soot in an atmospheric laminarethylene diffusion flame. The generated data setcomplements existing data determined in one single locationand takes advantage of the good spatial resolution ofthe ICCD detection. Time resolution is achieved by shiftingthe camera gate along the LII decay. One key inputparameter for the analysis of time-resolved LII is the localflame temperature. This was determined on a gridthroughout the flame by coherent anti-Stokes Ramanscattering. The accurate temperature data, in combinationwith other published data from this flame, are well suitedfor soot model validation purposes while we showed feasibilityof a shifted gate approach to deduce 2D particlesizes in the chosen standard flame.
